01Agreeing to these terms

Worlds is a game made by HYTOPIA, Inc. ("we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between you and us. By creating an account or playing Worlds at worldsalpha.com, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't play.

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we keep about you and why. It is part of these terms.

02The alpha

Worlds is an early test version, shared with a small group of players before it is finished. That means:

• Progress can be wiped. We may reset worlds, inventories, levels and other progress at any time, with or without notice. We try to keep your sign-in, username and look through a reset.
• Things will change. Features, numbers, items and rules may be added, changed or removed.
• It may be unavailable. The game may go down, lose data or end the alpha entirely.
• Keep it to yourself if we ask. If we tell you that part of the alpha is confidential, please don't share it.

03Who can play

You must be at least 13 years old to play. If you are under 18, or under the age of adulthood where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.

You can't play if we have banned you before, or if the law where you live doesn't allow you to use the game.

04Your account

You sign in with an email code, Google, Discord or a crypto wallet. You can link more than one of these to the same account.

• One account is for one person. Don't share it, sell it or use someone else's.
• Keep your email, Google, Discord and wallet logins secure. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
• Pick a username that isn't offensive, doesn't pretend to be someone else, and doesn't pretend to be us or a moderator. We may change or remove a username that breaks these rules.
• Tell us right away at support@hytopia.com if you think someone else is using your account.

05Fair play and conduct

Worlds runs much of its play in players' own browsers, so fair play matters. You agree not to:

• Cheat, or use or make cheats, bots, macros, modified clients or any tool that plays for you or gives you an unfair edge.
• Exploit a bug on purpose. If you find one, please report it to us instead.
• Interfere with the game, our servers or other players' connections, or try to get into accounts or systems that aren't yours.
• Copy, reverse engineer or resell the game or its servers, except where the law allows it.
• Harass, threaten, bully or hurt other players, or post hateful, sexual, violent or illegal content, including in usernames and builds.
• Pretend to be another person, a moderator or us.
• Use the game to break any law.

Our servers check game actions for signs of cheating. Accounts that break these rules may lose items or progress, or be suspended.

06What you build

The worlds and builds you make in Worlds are yours. So that the game can work, you give us a worldwide, free, non-exclusive license to store, copy, show and share what you build inside the game and its services, for example saving your home world, showing it to players you invite, and using pictures of the game to show what Worlds is. This license lasts as long as your content is in the game.

Don't build or upload anything you don't have the right to use, or anything that breaks section 5. We may remove content that breaks these terms.

07Items and progress

Items, materials, gear, levels, worlds and other progress in Worlds are part of the game. They have no money value, you can't exchange them for money, and you don't own them. You have a personal, limited right to use them in the game while your account is in good standing.

We may change, rebalance or remove items and progress at any time, including in a reset. Linking a crypto wallet to your account only lets you sign in with it; it doesn't place game items on a blockchain or make them tradeable.

08Playing with others

When you play with others, one player's browser usually hosts the game for the party, and players' browsers connect to each other directly. Other players in your party can see your username and what you do in the game, and their devices may see your IP address, as with most online games. See the Privacy Policy for more.

We are not responsible for what other players do. If someone breaks these terms, tell us at support@hytopia.com or in our Discord.

09Our game and art

The game, its code, art, models, music, sounds and names belong to us or the people who license them to us. These terms don't give you any rights to them beyond playing the game.

10Feedback

We love hearing what you think. If you send us ideas, bug reports or suggestions, we may use them freely without paying or crediting you.

11Suspension and ending

You can stop playing at any time. To delete your account, email us at support@hytopia.com.

We may suspend or close your account, or remove items or progress, if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect other players or the game. When we can, we'll tell you why. We may also end the alpha or the game.

Sections 6 (the license ends when your content is deleted), 7, 9, 10, 12 and 14 keep applying after your account ends.

12No warranty, limited liability

Worlds is an alpha. It is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including that it will be error-free, secure, always available, or that your progress will be kept.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, progress or items. Our total liability to you for any claim about the game is limited to the amount you paid us to play in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50 if you paid nothing.

Some places don't allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.

13Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top, and for important changes we'll tell you in the game or by email. If you keep playing after a change, you agree to the new terms.

14Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Washington State, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
